Blackburn Rovers had emerged triumphant in the East Lancashire derby game against Burnley. Their first top-flight meeting after 43 years had ended with a 3-2 Blackburn win.

Burnley's Robbie Blake scored a stunning 25 yards strike after only 5 minutes. But the lead was short-lived. David Dunn,Franco Di Santo and Pascal Chimbonda's goal sealed the points for Blackburn. Chris Eagle's stoppage time game was unable to change the outcome of the game.

Martin Laursen is gone but Aston Villa's set piece threat remains. Villa's "Twin Towers" were brilliant defensively and also scored two thunderous headers to win the game for the home side.

Dunne and Collins goals propelled Aston Villa to joint third with Tottenham and Man City with 16 points.

The 2-1 defeat in Villa Park would be a psychological blow to Chelsea, who had lost twice in as many away games in the Premier League.

Manchester City got more than they had deserved when Craig Bellamy scored the crucial 70th minute equalizer to draw at Villa Park. The points arrived at the end of a negative City performance. Personally, I am expecting a lot more from a £120m ++ team.

This was Gareth Barry and Richard Dunne's first meeting with their former clubs. And it was the Irish defender who shone the brightest.

A Stephen Warnock's cross saw Dunne out-jump Gareth Barry before planting a firm header into the net.
