Arshavin In Liverpool Instead??

Liverpool and Manchester City failed in late bids to sign Andrey Arshavinin the january transfer window, according to a report in the News of the World.

Both Rafael Benitez and Mark Hughes attempted to sign the talented Russian, but the paper claims Arshavin turned down a move to Manchester City and did not sign for Liverpool because of 'delay'.

The tabloid quotes a ‘source close to the deal’ as stating that the Reds may have been able to snare Arshavin, if only they had not delayed talks because of Robbies Keane's move back to Tottenham.

“It could have been a different story if Liverpool hadn't waited so long,” says the paper’s source.

“As it was, he had already virtually signed for Arsenal when they made their interest known.”

The Russian has been in scintillating form and had been instrumental in 4-0 thrashing of Blackburn and yesterday's 3-1 demolition of Newcastle United.

It is queer that this report only come out after Arshavin's form pick up. Liverpool is a good club but not necessarily more appealing than Arsenal or even Aston Villa.

In my opinion, even if there is no delay in the transfer, Arshavin may not pick Liverpool over Arsenal. Haha..

Arshavin Scored One Goal And Is Booasting

Arshavin is issuing a warning to the entire EPL league after scoring his first goal against Blackburn last weekend. For a man with only one EPL goal to his name, he does have a lot to say. I wonder what he will say after doubling the total goals scored. (2 goals)

It is difficult for any player to score goals when they are satisfied after scoring only one.

He says "I am just getting to know my new team-mates and sometimes I do not know where I should go, where to run or how to use the space," Arshavin told Arsenal TV Online.

"Sometimes I play well, yes, but I would like to show that all of the time. However, it is getting better and better in each game and I will try to improve."

"The boss must decide where is best to play me but, in my mind, if Arsenal play a 4-4-2, then it is better for me to play as the second forward.

"If we play 4-3-3, then I can play on the left or the right wing, it does not matter for me."

OK. Wish him luck. We will only be able to judge his performance at the end of the season.

Arshavin Is Very Very Tough

Arshavin wants to play in the FA Cup despite having his right foot almost torn apart in the game against Blackburn Rovers. It required 8 stiches but it is not going to stop Arshavin.

Wenger says," We will make a late decision. He is desperate to be involved. He just wants to play."

Andrey Arshavin has begged to play in Arsenal's FA Cup quarter final against Hull tonight - even though his foot has been "cut like a knife".

"Arshavin had eight stitches in his foot but he is still in the squad," Wenger said. "

It is amazing to see such enthusiasm these days. Almost like a young player eager to prove his worth to his manager. We rarely see such qualities in a top class footballer.

Arshavin said: "I can't even step on my foot now. It's like a knife cut - not very deep but quite painful. Blackburn is the toughest tackling team I've ever played against.

"Ooijer tore my boot and the skin too. At half-time, our doctor had to do a lot of work on my foot. So when I scored the second goal, I ran over to thank him for a job well done."


The Sam Allardyce's tough tactics had damaged the Russian's foot but not his spirit. Arshavin is very tough and has lifted the club spirits.

The Arsenal agreed a £10million fee for Arshavin, rising by a further £2m based on success-related clauses being met. What a coup. Arsene Wenger the penny pincher manage to sign him on the cheap.
