Video Highlights: Manchester City Vs Arsenal 4-2, The Merceneries Won!

Arsenal's "top four" credentials is questioned once again after a crunching defeat by Manchester City.

Should we castigate Arsene Wenger's youth and transfer policy again?

Video Highlights: Manchester United Beat Arsenal 2-1 29/8/09

Wenger kicks a water bottle in frustration and was sent off by referee Mike Dean.

That incident pretty much summed up Arsenal's game at Old Trafford.

Hard luck..

Arsene Wenger ended the evening a defeated man although they dominated much of the proceedings.

Manchester United won the match 2-1.

Mart Poom To Coach Arsenal Women's Team. Part Of Wenger's Preparation For The Future

According to Setanta-

Estonian keeper Mart Poom has announced that he has also been offered the opportunity to work with the Arsenal women's team as a coach.

Jerie Paton, the Gunners’ current goalkeeping coach is recovering from surgery and Poom has been offered the chance to stand in for 4 months.

Poom says "In addition, I have been offered the chance to coach the women's team,” when interviewed by Uefa’s official website. “I'm still in good physical shape, but Wenger has decided to prepare for the future.”

I am completely baffled after reading this Setanta report.

He mentioned that he is part of Wenger's preparation for the future.Mart Poom a player/coach? Does Arsene Wenger plan to play Mart Poom at some point next season?

Video of Hector Moreno, Arsenal's Messiah???

Arsenal have been scouting AZ Alkmaar's championship winning squad and Héctor Moreno is one of the players the Gunners are expected to bid for.-according to fansfc

6 million pounds will seal the move.

A 21 year old Mexican? I don't rate this rumour since Wenger is looking for proven quality. Signing a young boy will not add experience to the team.

With a fair number of fans eager to make Wenger's youth policy a scapegoat for recent poor showing, it is unlikely that Arsenal will bid for Hector.

I have included a video featuring Héctor Moreno..

Wenger Is Confident Of CL Semi Final Progress

Wenger is delighted with his side's performance last night against Villarreal. The away goal means a scoreless draw or any sort of win at home will see them through.

Wenger says "It puts us in a great position, but we want to qualify at home and to repeat the type of performance we did in the second half," he said.

"I am confident, the quality we have shown added to the mental strength and desire we have shown.

But we know Villarreal are a good team as well, so we will be on our toes and focused at Emirates.

“This team has shown the whole season they are mentally very strong and when they have back to the wall, these young players always find an answer which is very interesting for a young team.

"I believe we have created momentum. We are a very young team, but are capable to focus.

"We have shown with the consistency we have in the championship that we are able to concentrate every three days, and at that age, that is a big quality."

Arsenal did not play exceptionally well and deserve to lose the game rather than stealing a draw. But in soccer it is the result that really matters.

Arsenal is enjoying a huge slice of luck these days. Their heroics on the pitch has mesmerized every Arsenal fan. Good results sees them overtake Villa and in pole position to take the fourth spot in the English Premier League.

And it was only a few months ago when there were a lot of fans who wanted Wenger to be sacked. Adebayor was the least popular player in Arsenal because of his desire to leave.

But this is soccer. It is easy to forget your misgivings when you produce good results.

Arshavin Is Very Very Tough

Arshavin wants to play in the FA Cup despite having his right foot almost torn apart in the game against Blackburn Rovers. It required 8 stiches but it is not going to stop Arshavin.

Wenger says," We will make a late decision. He is desperate to be involved. He just wants to play."

Andrey Arshavin has begged to play in Arsenal's FA Cup quarter final against Hull tonight - even though his foot has been "cut like a knife".

"Arshavin had eight stitches in his foot but he is still in the squad," Wenger said. "

It is amazing to see such enthusiasm these days. Almost like a young player eager to prove his worth to his manager. We rarely see such qualities in a top class footballer.

Arshavin said: "I can't even step on my foot now. It's like a knife cut - not very deep but quite painful. Blackburn is the toughest tackling team I've ever played against.

"Ooijer tore my boot and the skin too. At half-time, our doctor had to do a lot of work on my foot. So when I scored the second goal, I ran over to thank him for a job well done."

The Sam Allardyce's tough tactics had damaged the Russian's foot but not his spirit. Arshavin is very tough and has lifted the club spirits.

Gunners shopping in the Magpies

The Gunners are preparing an €11 million bid for the Magpies centre-back at the end of the season, a fee that represents a huge mark-up for the Geordies. He was €500k. Can't believe it.

According to a newspaper report from The Daily Mirror, Arsenal are set to raid Premier League rivals Newcastle United for defender Sebastien Bassong at the end of the season.

The 6ft 2in centre-back arrived at St. James’ Park from French Ligue 2 club Metz last summer for the bargain price of €550,000 (£500,000).

If I am Joe Kinnear, this is a no-brainer. If this Sebastien is so brilliant, Newcastle would have done so much better. And not leaking in goals like a strainer..
